Maybe we can start again.
Speaking of vacations. I’m back in LA soon. Weird and panicky feeling like a tourist in my own city.
But in other news. Macau is definitely scheduled for early 2011. 1500 flight + 8 days of hotel.
Yes, I’m coming home again.

Oysters are the next best thing to lox, uni, and yellowtail.
When I found out that Elliott’s Oyster House has oysters for 50 cents during happy hour, I squealed. No. Literally. Squealed. What can be better? (answer: a lox, uni, yellowtail, oyster cake)
Now being a lady, I had to keep it classy. When asked how many I wanted I answered demurely, “3” when I wanted to say A MILLION NOM NOM NOMz. We got a dozen of kumamoto oysters (six from WA, six from CA) and later another half dozen of the happy hour special (hunter’s creek and deer point I believe. I could be way off base)
I loved the pink iced champagne mixture (red wine vinegar, champagne, tabasco, shallots) that came with the oysters. It was pretty tangy so it really brought out the sweetness of the oysters. It was super fun watching the chef chuck oysters like a pro. They really discard the bad ones!! The chinese in me would have served it anyway just cuz that’s how we roll and I’m cheap. Which is why I will never own a restaurant.
I can’t wait to come back and literally eat a million. Don’t dare me.

Pesos makes my life. Since being first introduced to it, I’ve been coveting their secret carne asada recipe. It’s tender, it’s flavorful, its the best carne asada I’ve ever had. If you don’t like eggs (weirdo), no fear. You can get the same steak but have it come with rice and beans during lunch time. And if you can’t get enough eggs and potatos, breakfast is served till 3pm.
Granted I’ve only been here twice, but it’s slowly becoming a tradition and a must stop when I go to Seattle. The service is friendly. The chips and salsa are amazing. Their shrimp and king crab enchilada is mouth watering.
Tip: Their white sangria is the best morning/mid day drink.
Best of all? They have ‘happy hour’ specials that run practically all day AND they are open till 2am.

Seattle = Seafood. I love seafood = I love Seattle.
If you love lox, you must come to Totem Smokehouse located in the Pike Place Market. They carry Sockeye Salmon which is tastier than the Atlantic (farm raised) salmon that you see in most stores.
Beware: Do not get any of the smoked oysters or mussels. Hella gross.

PS The Pike Place Market is an amazing place not only for tourists but locals. Yes, people actually shop for groceries here. And they throw fish.

If I’m able to take off work, I’m contemplating Buenos Aires! Has anyone been recently?
