Love Life, Hate Kittens

Flight: I blame San Jose. Flight there was fine. LAX went by quickly. Ate my Burger King nuggets on the plane, made it there without dying. But oh my. I’ve never been to SJC but the airport was a cross between Boise, Burbank, and Hell. Not only did we have to take a bus between each terminal and go through security. They didn’t fwd our luggage to Seattle. Yes you heard me right. It’s almost day 3 in Seattle and I’ve been wearing the same outfit. Luckily I pack extra panties in my laptop bag (i can’t shake the whorish tendencies) but still. After being promised luggage that morning, then noon, then 6pm….the latest update is noon tomorrow. Burn America Airlines. Burn.

Thanksgiving Day: This has truly been the most exciting Thanksgiving week I’ve had in a while. First a Thxgiving dinner with Jenni/Brian, then another weekday dinner with E. Sun, and now a traditional dinner in Seattle.

I’m super(ficially) huge on tradition. Just one of those things that I didn’t get as a child so I try and mimic in adult life. I remember when I was in elementary school, my best friend’s mom used to bring over stuff for us because we ordered pizza every year. One year, we decided to ‘do it big’ and go to Sizzler’s to recreate Thanksgiving and it was like the best thing ever for me. Good times. :-/

I’m really thankful this year, last year, all the years actually…whether it’s through pizza, candied yams or turkey, I’m lucky to have friends and a strange yet great family to share life with.

You know, when someone sends you a text that says ‘Monday dinner. I caught quail, chukar, and rabbit’ you would probably be like WTF. From Erik? It’s totally normal. I wouldn’t expect anything less :D Spearfisher, hunter, neighbor, most interesting man I know.

Before you ask, I know what you want to know. What is chukar? Apparently (according to the source), it’s some sort of wild bird that annoyingly caws and teases you until you think you got an easy shot and then it flies to another mountain.

Confused? Who cares. Just know it tastes delicious. Wine was flowing. Great food. Then somewhere along the blurry lines Smirnoff Vodka was brought out (?$#@! wtf ?) but I digress. Good times.

Inspired by my lil sis’ tumblr post, I felt obligated to make a Chinese New Year posting. 

Here is my luck in the Year of the Ox. Last year was ‘my’ year - the year of the rat which is really horrible for you if you are the same sign. But my mom gave me a jade monkey that I secretly carry to fend off bad luck. Yes its kinda odd but whatevs you’re just jealous that i have a FUCKING JADE MONKEY. :-/ ok maybe not.
