Love Life, Hate Kittens

You say I think I'm never wrong. You know what? Maybe you're right.

Lox. Nom Nom Nom.

Seattle = Seafood. I love seafood = I love Seattle.

If you love lox, you must come to Totem Smokehouse located in the Pike Place Market. They carry Sockeye Salmon which is tastier than the Atlantic (farm raised) salmon that you see in most stores.

Beware: Do not get any of the smoked oysters or mussels. Hella gross.

PS The Pike Place Market is an amazing place not only for tourists but locals. Yes, people actually shop for groceries here. And they throw fish.

Bay Cities Deli. Best meatball sub ever.

[via Mike l. of yelp]

It’s official.

It doesn’t matter what time of day it is. Whether it’s the midweek lunchtime crunch or the lazy weekend, Bay Cities is a madhouse. It’s like standing in a pack of starving spider monkeys. Know what you want to order. This isn’t Subway. There’s no time for you to stand around and debate whether you want peppercinis or not. Get in and get out.

The Godmother with the works is always your best choice if you want a little bit of everything. I tend to fall back on the meatball sandwich. Two humongous balls of exploding meat. Exploding right into your soul. The meat is packed loosely and full of flavor. It’s simple, mozzarella and meatball on a toasted loaf. It’s the best meatball sandwich you ever had.

Bay Cities has a great selection of truffle creams/salts/oil and more olive oils, cheeses, and pastas than you can name. I still haven’t found a good time to come when I can leisurely browse the deli meats without being given the evil eye or socked in the face.

Guess this means I’ll have to keep coming back. Oh no.

I bought hamachi, tuna, halibut AND groceries for 22 bucks.

I cannot understand how Hide Sushi can stay in business being next to Save and Safe Market. A Hide Sushi dinner can run you about 60 bucks minimum for two people. What do you get? Your normal salmon, hamachi, tuna, etc.

You know what’s next door?

A japanese fish market that can sell you the same fresh sashimi for a hella lot cheaper. I’ve been frequenting this little store on Sawtelle for a while now and I must say… the fish quality is grade A. At 16-19 dollars a pound (sounds steep i know but you just paid 16 bucks for 6 pieces of sashimi next door. please stop your whining), you get a platter full. A pound is a lot. I learned that the hard way when I got a pound of hamachi and tuna. TWO sheets of sashmi. We couldn’t even finish in one night. That’s how much it was and I’m one to over indulge.

I can’t go to another Japanese restaurant again.. at least not casually. I don’t mind dishing out for a special dinner or an outing but given the amount of fresh fish I can get from S & S? My wallet refuses to cooperate.

Oh. and their bell peppers and veggies are hella cheap too. Fuck you Ralph’s.
