Air Conditioned Supper Club. Strange.

Standing in line for a Soul/Funk show at A/C Supper Club proved to be the best people watching I have ever seen. The people coming out of the comedy show made me question whether I was in Venice or Corona. Have you ever wanted to date an inbred redneck (is that redundant?) who may or may not be cooking crystal meth in his basement?
Killers of Comedy - You’re welcome.
Luckily the crowd significantly changed for the music portion of the evening. People of all ages and races - some hipsters, some old folks, some hippies. The dress code is pretty lax. It’s across the street from a huge CCC and famous BBQ joint. Parking is easy on that side also.
A/C is divided into two sections with two bars. There’s the main hall with live music and a couple booths (reserved for bottle service) and there’s a back room with ample seating (low love seats, long L shape sectional, etc) and another bar. The place got full without ever being crowded. Never had to ‘wait’ to order a drink, never felt claustrophobic. The backroom would be a nice place to have a small party/get together.
We came to see Shinichi + All the Way Live and Martin Luther and the show was great! I’m usually not interested in R&B/Soul but it was good. It had a funk/jazz component that I enjoyed and the DJ was great between sets.
There’s room to dance or just stand and chill. The sound is ok for the small space. If you sit in the back room, you have to move up to the main hall to hear cuz the sound doesn’t carry that far.
Good space + great music.
Note: I have to say - multiple yelp reviews stated that the people coming here are hot and this was like the Venice equivalent of a Hollywood club. This was completely not the case. Crowd was chill, there was an easy line and to be fair, the bartenders are the only hot chicks/guys I saw.
