Warning. This will be the most depressing thing you read all day.
I hate pizza. I love pasta. I love all things Italian but pizza.
Pizza for me symbolizes every Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Birthdays, Fridays.. basically any special occasion where normal families would get together. and possibly share hugs and laughter. or so I heard.
In other words, the love attention that I never received and i’m just another one of your asian girls lacking in fatherly attention bound to go in the path of self destruction or whoredom. NOOOOOO!
I resolved to face my demons.
Coop is a small, easily forgotten store front on the corner of the 10 and National. I’m wary. There’s no room to sit much less stand and wait for your order. I popped in Coop during 1PM last week and ordered a slice of cheese pizza with sausage, eggplant parmigiana, and canadian ham and they didn’t have any single slices avaliable. The nice lady told me, “Sweetie. We don’t have any right now. but i’ll whip it up for you. Is 10 minutes ok?” Aw. Come on. She could have told me to order something more but a single slice? Made specially for me? My heart instantly melts. Thanks. She DID however shake my faltering trust when she said, “But can you do without sausage? I would have to make some.” Aiya. Here comes the disappointments :(
Ten minutes later I pop back in and she greets me warmly, “Hey sweetheart. I decided to go ahead and make the sausage anyway.” Aww. That’s so sweet. Some might say, Well, she’s supposed to! It’s her job! Well, Mr. Sassypants. SORRY for not being spoiled.
I also ordered a pasta salad which she said, “Hold on honey while I chop up some fresh basil for you.” After paying $6 for lunch and newfound warmth in my heart, she looked me in the eye and told me to “Have a nice rest of the day.” Awwwwwwww. The mom I never had!
I went straight home and enjoyed my crispy thin crust pizza made with love. There was a perfect layer of cheese and sauce. The eggplant was an amazing touch and added such a yummy consistency to the pizza. I’m so glad she decided to make sausage. Adds a nice spice to the pizza. The crust was nice and crispy. To those that have had soggy pizza from here, give them some credit. Any pizza sitting in a case or in a delivery box is bound to get soggy. If you have the patience. Ask them to whip you up a fresh slice. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Nothing like finding new parents and a perfect thin crust in the same day.
