    Stalk me

It’s not that I’m loyal to El Chato but I decided I hate the LBC.

So in the recent year, I’m hesitant to go down to the South Bay much less Long Beach. Too long of a drive, nothing to do, nothing to eat, I found my reasons. But circumstances led me back to Long Beach this weekend. Drats. I have some friends that live downtown by Ocean and Downtown District. I remember LB being recently renovated so it can’t be that bad right?

    Wrong.

Unfortunately my errands put me smack dab in Bixby Knolls and if you have never been to the BK, think 1980s small town. Church, liquor store, post office, church, diner, bar, church, creepy trucker woman standing outside the bar at 11am.. oh it goes for blocks on end.

After much driving and stopping and peeping out random places, we end up in Lakewood and the recommended restaurant Vino & Cucina was closed. FML.

Drove back up Carson to this ‘taco stand’ that was supposedly famous. Got one asada taco, two lengua, two cabeza.

Upon first glance, the tacos are bigger than normal topped with the usual cilantro and onions. The asada had great flavoring and had bits of grilled onion in it. Excellent amount of spice even tho I opted for no sauce (I’m a spice wuss). I wish I got another asada. The lengua was the highlight for me. Big juicy pieces. Tender and flavorful. In fact, so juicy that the tortilla got really mushy :( I was meh on the cabeza. Bland and greasy. Tacos here were mighty cheap going at 1.10/taco though I still prefer my El Chato cart.

Verdict: It’s nowhere I’d come back to even if I was in the area but I did LOL at their multiple “NO ICE CREAM” signs taped all around their stand. Like they just have retards storming their stands for ice cream.
