We all need somebody to make us feel alive again.
Some can say that being an escort is infinitely harder than a prostitute. An escort is a paid friend. Your trainer, your therapist. You must have something that keeps bringing them back. Cheating is not about sex. You think you’re here for the sex. It’s a cover up. The sex is a mask, a blanket for the freedom, the freedom to be yourself. Even in simple sex transactions, its the...
Things I enjoyed in 2009 in no particular order....
Thanks for the love ‘09! You’ve been one heck of an incredible year.
10. Fine Dining/Cheap Dining - Some time two years ago, I thought that 80 bucks for 2 at dinner was a luxury. This year, 80 bucks for 2 equals = wow. what a cheap meal. I went from thinking 16 bucks for an entree was pricey to not even flinching at a 30 price tag for two bites of an appetizer. Life sure has changed, Torrance....
Love/Hate Relationship of 2009: Blogging.
It always feels weird when people ask me if i am a food blogger or a blogger in general. Or why I have a blog.
I never have a good answer. A smart answer. A lie about how maybe my writing will get recognized and I’ll put up ads and generate revenue. Who doesn’t love money but the thought of it makes me want to shoot myself. Why do I write?
Cuz I am just an emo girl with a shit load...

I finally learned that mussels are easy to make.
Made a seafood-centric dinner on Sunday and had enough for leftovers tonight. Mmmmm. Truthfully, seafood looks way more impressive than it really is. All it takes is careful watching and timing. You can put together a 4 course dinner in less than 30 minutes. Yes, you want to date me. I know.
Note: All seafood was purchased from Santa Monica Seafood on 10th and Wilshire. 2lbs of mussels, 12...

These pictures are just the beginning. Food...
My mom used to think I had worms cuz I can eat like a champ. Unfortunately it was just because I was young and had a extremely high metabolism. As I get older and wiser, I can no longer murder at buffets. I eat lean cuisines and count my ‘points’. Gross I know. Right next to my Yelp and Urbanspoon app is ‘Lose it!’ - a convenient weight loss for a modern you’...

It could have been epic.
Unfortunately eating live octopus loses its novelty in 10 seconds flat. I’m not a tiger. I don’t like to play with my food before I eat it. I like it dead. Don’t let the video fool you. Once you poke those lil suckers (no pun intended), it fights for dear life. It clings onto the plate in despair and sucks onto your tongue, roof of your mouth, teeth.. .anything it can...

Tuesday chef. Pan Seared Duck + Truffled Potatoes....
Did you know that duck is as easy to cook as steak? I never cooked duck before in my life (although I love it) and it turned out to be the easiest alternative to a quick steak. I never cook chicken because a) it’s bland b) it’s boring. Who eats chicken besides nursing home folks? (No one.)
So he had four duck breasts left over from his cooking club and I decided to play Top Chef...

Heartwarming X'mas Story of 2009: Beer chugging 4...
So you think kids are growing up too fast? I think they are growing up too awesome.
Hayden Wright of Chattanooga, TN, 4, is my hero.
Little Hayden woke up in wee hours and decided he was thirsty. Not only did he bypass the milk for the cold beer in the fridge but he decides to high tail out of the house and break into the neighbor’s.
Upon seeing the array of awesome presents, he...

Dark Knight + Gossip Girl
Just watched The Dark Knight the other night and fell in love with it all over again. In the speech between Batman and the Joker in the police precinct, I thought …. wow, this runs parellel with Gossip Girl. My other favorite thing in the whole wide world.
Imagine Serena as Batman and Georgina as the Joker. All S wants is to be good and Georgina is there to remind her that…no,...

Charm me: Ludobites @ Royal/T.
[all pics courtesy of Eli G. - friend, lunch buddy and fellow diner at ludobites]
My expectations of Ludobites probably skewed my judgment. When I hear Ludobites I think of creative, clever, well executed, and charming.
Ludo may be all of those things himself (super nice guy) but his food fell short of my high expectations. Some chefs focus on seasonal, simple food with complex flavors. Some...

Another Seattle post. Oysters Happy Hour = Best...
Oysters are the next best thing to lox, uni, and yellowtail.
When I found out that Elliott’s Oyster House has oysters for 50 cents during happy hour, I squealed. No. Literally. Squealed. What can be better? (answer: a lox, uni, yellowtail, oyster cake)
Now being a lady, I had to keep it classy. When asked how many I wanted I answered demurely, “3” when I wanted to say A...

Seattle's best coffee. I mean, carne asada?
Pesos makes my life. Since being first introduced to it, I’ve been coveting their secret carne asada recipe. It’s tender, it’s flavorful, its the best carne asada I’ve ever had. If you don’t like eggs (weirdo), no fear. You can get the same steak but have it come with rice and beans during lunch time. And if you can’t get enough eggs and potatos, breakfast is...

Lox. Nom Nom Nom.
Seattle = Seafood. I love seafood = I love Seattle.
If you love lox, you must come to Totem Smokehouse located in the Pike Place Market. They carry Sockeye Salmon which is tastier than the Atlantic (farm raised) salmon that you see in most stores.
Beware: Do not get any of the smoked oysters or mussels. Hella gross.
